Title: Planning Trails for People and Wildlife
Description:
Abstract:
Development of this coverage provides relative impact of recreational trails on wildlife within the state of New Hampshire.
Purpose:
The NH Fish and Game Department was funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to assess the impacts of recreational trails on wildlife in New Hampshire. The approach was to review current published research, establish parameters, and develop a geospatial analysis tool to help with trail planning. The GIS process was used to assess the impact of existing trails and will provide information to help plan new trails (or relocations) that minimize disturbance to wildlife.
Supplemental_Information:
NH Fish and Game staff worked together with federal, state, NGO and private trails and wildlife experts to review and weight the input variables to this model.

Use_Constraints:
Use and analysis of geographic data are limited by the scale at which the data are collected and mapped, and by means of interpolation and other modeling procedures used in preparation of the data. The data were prepared with spatial models that used data at multiple scales and are time-limited. The user is advised of these complications. NHFG and the conservation partners do not warrant the completeness or accuracy of the data nor make claim to any implied uses of the data.
